I'm Stressed Out!

Hi Reader

How are you doing today, really?

Because me, personally, I am struggling! Juggling multiple tasks, projects, and activities at once can be hard work.

I've been catching myself in the way-too-familiar cycle of being on "go" mode: busy days at work, packed schedule with activities, project deadlines, and the list goes on.

And the stress that comes with? Oh gosh, it's a lot!

That's just the tip of the iceberg.

In addition to our daily stressors, we have the stress that sits in our shoulders. The kind that comes with unspoken expectations, identity struggles, family pressure, and the weight of being everything to everyone.

Sound familiar?

We're often taught to push through the pain. To keep going, even when it seems impossible. But stress doesn't just magically disappear if we don't think about it.

It sits in our bodies, our minds, our hearts.

So this week, I challenge you to do something different.
Let's talk about it, hold space for those unsaid feelings that may feel heavy.

What is stress?

Stress is the way your body reacts to pressure. Whether that's physical, emotional, or mental. It doesn't always have to be bad! For example, exercising is a good type of stress that you put on your body to get stronger and healthier.
But chronic stress? That's where it can become harmful. Stress can impact our sleep, digestion, concentration, and even our immune system.

How do we manage it?

  • Take 5 deep breaths when you notice tension
  • Stretch in the morning or night. Just 5 minutes
  • Say no when something drains your energy
  • Put the phone away
  • Journal your thoughts. No filter
  • Talk to a friend, let yourself be seen.

And if today, all you did was survive, that counts too. Every small win adds up. Keep going, you got this.

This week's reflection:

What action can you take today, this week, or this month to better help your stress?

One small step, change in habit, change in perspective, can make a huge difference. It doesn't have to be a big step, just a step.

Remember when we talked about community two weeks ago? Well, I took my own advice and reached out to a friend I haven't talk to recently. Here's her response. She may have not responded back right away, but my message was a reminder that she's not alone and that I'll always be there when she needs me. Shoutout Mariam <3

Happy Friday Reader! I see you and love you for who you are For many South Asians, conversations about dating remain private, complicated, and highly shaped by familial and cultural expectations. And for those whose relationships do not fit into the “ideal box” – whether interracial, interfaith, or same-sex – are silenced, excluded, and forgotten. Since June was Pride Month, I want to use this space to talk about the relationships we often do not discuss in the South Asian community. As I...

Good morning Reader, Welcome to the return of our monthly newsletter! May has been an eventful month for Aangan so we’re kicking off with a question to reflect on: what do you do to reset during a busy season in life? This is a question I’ve come back to over and over again especially as I’ve felt more swamped with each passing week this month. I wonder if May is just one of those months when things pick up no matter what profession or what stage in life you’re at. In my corner of the Aangan,...

Hello Reader! Happy June! I hope the start of this month has been filled with sunny pool days and refreshing drinks. And as the days are getting longer, and calendars are getting filled, I hope you've also had a moment to pause, even if it's to take a deep breath. Because here's the thing, we often think of rest as something we've earned. After the deadlines, exams, breakdowns, and burnout. But what if rest isn't the reward? What if it's the practice of resting that keeps us from breaking...
